Does anyone know about whether i need health insurance in Spain.

I am moving there next year and although i am trying to get work in Gibraltar so my medical should be fine, i need to find out if my wife will need health insurance as we will be living in Spain.

Any help would be appreciated.

Spanish national health cover is only provided to those that:
1. Work in the system and make contributions
2. Pensioners at full retirement age who are paid for by their native country (EU)
3. Those on very low income who pass means testing to qualify
4. Those who make special contributions (Valencia region only?) 90? p.p. per month
5. Tourists producing a valid EHIC (basic healthcare to get you home only, don't come for a major op!)

All others either pay private insurance or pay as they go at clinics.

Brits arriving from UK may have a period of cover based on UK NI contributions - but this should be confirmed before arrival from UK gov sites more for Brits here

it might be best to check it out , but if you are wanting to stay for a bit it would be worthwhile looking into it, below is a link for just one of many providers that you could use
