Let us introduce ourselves here, my name is Jose (Spanish) and my partner is Mark, we have recently moved down to Spain from Yorkshire (7 months ago today!).
We do like this area and we thought about buying something in the area of GANDIA. Prices are ridiculously cheap right now!
Our question is that we haven’t got a clue about Spanish mortgages and we thought maybe it would be better to have an English one.
Although I am Spanish, I have spent half of my life in the UK and I have no idea of Spanish laws and things like that, at least I haven’t got the problem fo the language so that’s something!
We do have a business in the UK that is doing very well and I have my flat in Central London tenanted, so financially we are surviving without work. Although I have heard that I am entitled to 2 years full unemployment benefit since I have worked in the UK for over 20 years, but to kick-start that benefit, I need to work in Spain for at least ONE DAY.. lol! - I much rather work full-time but things are difficult in this area, so I guess I won’t be able to find a job any time soon.
We are slightly confused about this buying thing, any pointers would be welcome! At the moment we are living in North of Valencia near Alboraya but we do like GANDIA and OLIVA and we are planning to move there as soon as we find a good property.
