We are American and live in the US.  We are thinking about buying a vacation home in Spain.  Can anyone give advice on how we could obtain a mortgage?  I’ve done a lot of Google searching and haven’t found much information.  I could find info on mortgages from UK banks, but we don’t live in the UK.

Seems like Spanish banks want you to be resident in Spain and/or have income in Spain.  And US banks usually only do mortgages for US properties. 

How do people usually do this?  There must be Americans with vacation homes in Spain.  How do they finance them?
