Hi

I am South African and moving to Spain in December to join my husband (a British National) who has just moved there.
But I just found out that I am 4 weeks pregnant!

I was just starting to look into private healthcare, but now none of the healthcare companies will cover me for the birth as I am already pregnant.

Does anyone know of a company that would insure me for the birth?

Or would I be able to go onto the public healthcare system? My husband is self-emplyed and is in the process of applying for residency and his NIE number. I read on another forum that I may be able to become a dependent on his healthcard.
Does anyone know if this is true?

Alternatively, if I cant get cover, what is the cost of having a baby in Spain?

Thanks,

M
