I recently obtained my Spanish birth certificate through the Historical Memory Law. (Hooray! Long process, was originally denied but succeeded through an appeal). My next step is to schedule an appointment at my local consulate to interview for my passport.
I am nervous about the interview, as I am not a native speaker. I did minor in Spanish, studied abroad in Spain, and feel my conversational skills are reasonably good. But I am worried this will be a different animal than any conversation I have ever had.
Has anyone else applied for a passport through a consulate in the United States? If so, what was it like? Is there a citizenship test involved regarding Spanish history or culture that I should be preparing for?
Thank you so much!
