Shipping computers etc. from USA to Spain

Does anyone know the best way to ship valuables (computers, TVs, etc.) from Los Angeles to Spain?

I checked UPS and USPS, but the prices were ridiculous.

Shipping company suggested packing and taking on flight, but the rough handling scares us.
