Hi Forumers!!!!
So far and generally really happy with my move to Marbella, San Pedro Alcantara. It has been exactly today one month since i moved to Spain!!!!!!! I am happy to say that a week and half a go i received the keys of my villa furnished and everything!!!! Making some changes to villa as i go along. The good thing while i was waiting for all the paper work , money transfer, all the mambo jumbo in Spain i was able to purchase all the things i needed to move into the house. I was happy that telefonica installed last friday the internet service i got a network now i got their fastest and most expensive service so i could be comparable to what i had in Miami. They told me that it is 10 mb i yet get to see 3 mb they are telling me they have to make some changes in the Remoto!!!!!. Well i have to get use to the Spanish burocracy but i was really lucky my NIE, Empadrinamiento all went fast and smooth the only thing is that by October i must go back to the U.S to pickup my non-residency visa that is only good for one year but iti is automatically renovated for 5 years i have hire great lawyers with influences to get that fast for me hopefully it will be ready? Well what can i say life here is at a slower pace of what i was use to in Miami, things take longer people tend to be more accepting and more conforming. Americans live to work Spaniards work to live!!!! that is a difference and i love that. The only thing a i miss form the U.S is the Service and the conviniences of everything and the efficiency of all to due with goverment and the private sector. Spaniards have a very low service culture??? Another thing even thou Miami is full of traffic Roads, expressway, avenues are wider and better planed that in Spain?? I am an engineered Roads in Spain are not well planed. Another thing that i dont like is that if you have some money and you get a nice car people are constantly wacthing you and they come over to your car to see inside and touch your windows. I am Fourtunate enough to be privileged i bought myself a Mercedez G55 AMG wagon. In Miami i had a Range Rover but i sold it before i left i never had the situation of feeling so uncoftarble parking in Puerto Banus Marina people will go to my car to take pictures and then when i got in and out they will ask how much I pay?? if i was rich really uncoftarble never went thrue that in Miami????? Another thing people in Spain look at what you wear what kind of watch you have and they ask you without knowing you were i got it?? how much i pay for it??? I was really angry on Saturday because i was getting harass and the sorry thing mostly are Spaniards and some eastern Europeans being imprudent. Britts are more like americans??? and they behave with more class only the ocasional drunk. When i was eating in Rest. Antonio with a freind that i made during these ordeal i met some very wealthy italian guys that were freind with my new freind Pedro they both had Ferrari they told me is like that specially during July-August that allot of Spaniards come to the costa del sol to see cars and the famous and rich and that they could be very imprudent. Another thing is so far that i have to get use to is that most stores are closed on Sundays!!! Now the stores in Puerto Banus are open on Sundays because of High season but as soon as we go to September everything i was told will closed on Sundays. Another disvantages in Spain is when you ask for services!!! they see you are an Expat and live in a good area and the prices suddenly change?? I had the bad experienced with an A/C guy that i call because i want my house to have a more Potent A/C specially in my room he told me a Split Unit 30.00 Btu at a price as soon as he got into my house price jumped a 40% and he tells me when the a/c is almost installed so i learned everything must be in paper!!!!!!!! well i was told that the more time i integrated the more locals i know and when low season starts it will get much better for every day living????????
