Yes, I'm aware this question officially makes me an ugly American.

Ummmmm

anyone know if there exists in Madrid a sports bar that broadcasts American football games? I am, sadly, a New York Jets fan. Not enough of one to move back to the States, but it would be fun to catch a game on tv if possible.

Thanks ever so.

i am pretty sure that several of the Irish bars around town play american football games. i just don't personally frequent irish bars so i don't know which ones. why don't you grab an In Madrid (www.in-madrid.com) and check the listings.

also, this so doesn't make you an ugly american. ugly americans scream at the waiters at 830 pm demanding dinner and sauce on the side.

go jets! (though i am a saints fan...don't ask why, underdog an all that!)

I too am an NFL fan in Madrid. I just subscribed to streamtvnow.com which has all the games on Sunday which you can stream onto your computer, however beware if you have an Apple... you will only be able to get a few games... i actually watched the jets / pats game last night...

If you really want to go crazy, I have, you get Sling Box.
Without being too techie, I can watch my Time Warner cable from my home in Southern California on my television
here in Sotogrande. All channels 120+. ESPN and the College Sports extra as well.
Change channels do it all from here. Don't have to go back unless I need a In and Out Burger fix.
You need DSL at both ends and you need a TV here that accepts NTSC broadcast signals. PAL is the rule here in Europe. If you don't have a place in US you can set it up with your Mom and Dad or sister,
brother, ex-wife, whatever.

Also, if you know a guy or gal in the military you can bribe them into getting you a decoder box for AFN.
That's Armed Forces Network. It broadcasts several US televison shows and sports events.
Again you'll need the NTSC TV set.
I have a friend that got one and it's OK but the Sling Box is like being at home in Brooklyn in your case.
Sorry they play in Jersey now don't they.

Yahoo offers NFL Game Pass for ~$250 for all the games this season. It's live streaming video, not greatest quality, but it works and is pretty cool. Stayed up way too late watching my Jaguars the other night :D.

That's funny that you can't get NFL Game Pass if you're within North America at all. I understand it though, it's like standard game blackouts if you live in the same city, but still... At $250/year I would imagine the NFL could make more money off of that than they do from an individual watching the games in the US on television... Maybe not.

That's great news for us expats in Spain though!

Just curious but does me asking "How do I watch the Chelsea match?" make me an ugly Englishman? ;)
