My partner is a Colombian citizen, currently living in her own country.  We wish to live & work in Spain.

We have no intention of getting married, but one of the requirements for residency, is to produce a Marriage Certificate.

Do the Spanish authorities have a problem with people living together outside of marriage?

If so, does anyone have any suggestions how this impass can be overcome? (we are not able to get married!)

cheers

Hi there,

Im in a similar situation as you. My boyfriend in mexican and i am british, we wish to work and live in Spain.

We are also planning on getting married and I am going to have my baby there in 5 months, my parents are residents there and I have an NIE number there.

And I am finding it so hard to get a straight answer from anyone. It seems even tho we will be married and have a baby it is still difficult for my partner to work there legally. The embassy said the only way he can work there is if he gets a work contract but the employer has to submit it to the ministry of work in spain, and they have to then approve it and send it to the spanish embassy in your girlfriends country and the visa will get issued there. But she would only be able to work in that job and no other.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it will be difficult. Ive been trying for 2 months to find out information.

my mum and dad have an appointment with an immigration lawyer in spain tmr to discuss the best option so i will let you know what they say.
