Hi everyone,
I’m new here so I thought I would pop in and say hello before trying to launch myself onto the main forum!

I’m Zania and me and my hubby have lived here in Spain, in the lovely region of Granada, for about 18 months.  We have had a few ‘teething problems’ on the way (and are still finding more….) but we love it out here and would not go back to live permanently in the UK.
You may well find me posting about some of our ‘teething problems’ and hopefully I can help with some advice now and again too.

Welcome, Zania.  Where are you in Granada, out of interest?

We live in a little village south of the A92 and about half an hour west from the centre of Granada.
It’s fairly cut off, but we have a bus service twice a day, a village shop and two bars.  Who could ask for more?  😉

You must be close to the airport.  I don’t know that area well but it looks good from the car window.  There are so many places around Granada that I plan to explore now we’ve got our place in the Alpujarra sorted out - places like Baza and Guadix as well as the Vega and beyond - Montefrio is meant to be nice.  Every trip we’ve made in the past two years has been spent driving between the Alpujarra, Ikea, and the builder’s merchants!

We live in Castillo de Tajarja, which can’t be too far away from where you are. You sound as if you’re very “local” 😉

We’ve lived here almost three years now and love the area. Like you, there’s no way we would move back to the UK.

Will keep an eye out for your posts.

Nice to hear from you on the forums and I love the website BTW.

Especially liked the section “Cowboy Builders” and the cartoons to accompany… I wonder who you are talking about!?!? That Pro-Celebrity “specialist” who definately owns a horse, wears a ten-gallon hat, that’s “building” a reputation faster than a weary group of cattle herders can say “MORE BEANS PLEASE!!”.

Anyway, I know you’ll both love the forums here. Definately a good group of regular posters here, which is more than can be said for most of the other forums I look at. Too much bitching and such on many of the others. Nice forum for nice people 😊

I too have been on other forums and you are quite right about them, and this does seem like a nice friendly place.

As to my blog - thanks for the comments and I’m pleased you appreciated the cartoons 😉
There were more pictures on there, but I forgot to log in to the free host and lost them.
I also need to update the blog more, but I’ve been a bit busy setting up my own little ‘internet venture’ as you may have heard ....
Still, I must just add a post to that blog again soon ..... there is so much more to add to it, as you know only too well!

Thanks for the reply and I promise that my hubby will get back to you soon about your kind offer concerning materials we can use to ‘mend’ our fireplace (it’s just that I hog the pc a lot these days).

I’ve just read this again and think I had better clarify matters before people think I’m some kind of strange person!
My ‘venture’ is quite legal!
Just not the usual thing people do to make a living when they come to Spain or advertise in forums where people discuss moving, building, Spanish culture etc….

Live about 10kms outside of Granada, will never move back to UK, been in Spain for over three years, why would anyone!!  Very intrigued about your internet site, will have to check it out.  My husbands a lawyer and having moved from Barcelona is looking to network more around the area.

And another Brit living in the Granada area - we may even have seen you shopping in Carrefour (we can’t help pricking up our ears when we hear the odd English speaker).

So you moved to Granada from Barcelona?  How does it compare?
I must admit we have never been there, but it’s one of the places we really must visit soon.

My internet site - the one Heath referred to - is the one in my signature.  It’s just a blog with the occasional posting - nothing special.  Just the odd ‘why us?’ rant or two….

As to my other internet sites, they are a ‘work in progress’  and very adult in nature, which is why I will not link to them in any way on this forum.

After trying to find work here, in between having to go back to the UK to do temp work, to help make ends meet (a long, ‘builder related’ story ....), I had almost given up hope (for the immediate future anyway) of finding a way to make a living in Spain, as my language skills are still poor and my qualifications (in teaching) are not Spain related in any way .... so I became an ‘enterpreneur’.  And I looked for something which (I would think) the majority of ex-pats in Spain haven’t thought about - the ‘adult market’.

I signed up with some sponsors and am selling things for them via about about 50 blogs and a couple of websites (all mine or my hubby’s).  Most of the ‘products’ I sell are adult and x-rated and are sold to people all over the world.

It was very much a case of ‘when the going get’s tough ...’  We found something we could make money out of which was legal and went for it.  It’s early days yet, but it at least helps to pay the bills.

I thought it was best to explain this here as I referred to my little ‘internet venture’ earlier on and I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea 😊

Passed by you a week ago on the way to the gorge. Made my mum (who is scared of heights) cross the 150ft rope bridge there.

She managed to do it and we were all very impressed!!
