we live in an area where, as far as we know, the only ADSL available to us is Telefonica’s Ambito Rural (we are just out of range of Cable Sur and Iberbanda). We had Ambito Rural ADSL installed early this year and, although it has never been a fast service, just lately it has slowed down a heck of a lot!
Typically, until 3 weeks ago, our download speeds were generally in the region of 56kbps. Now we are lucky to achieve between 10 and 20kbps and indeed, mid afternoon download speeds fall below dial up speeds - during which time, they are so slow that many pages time out before we can reach them!
My husband spoke to Telefonica customer services and they gave him another telephone number to ring where, unfortunately, his lack of Spanish combined with no one available who could speak English, brought matters to a painful lack of conclusion!
I have also noticed that, during the last 2 or 3 weeks, the images I download are compressed and of poor quality, even though they start out high quality. Even my trusty Paint Shop Pro program cannot rectify the damage caused. This may not be connected to the slow download problem, but does appear coincidental with this.
On our computer we have run all our virus checkers, adware checkers and registry mechanic and can find no problem our side.
Is anyone else having similar problems, or has anyone any suggestions on this?
