We recently got our own place in Barcelona (first time actually having put contracts & utilities in our own name). And I was curious if renters insurance is advisable in Spain?  We already have health & travelers insurance, but nothing really covering our flat or personal belongings.  I haven’t been able to find much info about it so I’m thinking it’s not very common.  Any advice?

OK so you are renting a flat - so the actual structure is not your property so not your responsibility to insure. This is normally taken care of by a community policy on the whole building anyway.

So we are talking contents only (ie furniture(?), clothes, etc). It might be wise to take out a contents only policy if the contents are of a greater value than you could stand to lose through theft, fire etc.

Go and see a broker and get some quotes if you think it is worth it.
