Just had to happen didnt it..?

?400=500 Euros.

For those of us over here surviving on UK pensions the continually wekening sterling is a constant cause of alarm.
I have UK private pensions totalling about ?800 per month.
Over the last two years I have watched their value reducing dramatically.
In August 2006 we got about 1280 Euros
Todays rate brings in just 1000 Euros…

On 1st April all three pensions were increased in line with UK inflation at 3.9%. Even with this increase I am getting less than in January…

And not a sign of any likely improvement in the foreseeable future.

In the three hours or so that have elapsed since my last entry, my ?400 figure has shrunk by another 38cents.
Gordon Brown once said that if the pound ever dropped to 1.3 euros he would then consider joining the Euro.

Gordon, that time has come and gone.
Whats the new target figure? Parity?

?400=497 Euros…

Hello Arron my name is Gary and Im in the middle of moving to spain aswel.

I found a website called .....Currencyfinder.co.uk…. They compare the markets with the top Currency companys and you get a call from the company who gave the best rate… I was put through to a company called Excel Currencies, who I had never heard of before so I was a bit cautious of them.

Once I started speaking to them they explained everything to me in plain english and I was more then happy to use them. I have done a small trade through them already and found there rates very good. I get daily e-mails from them explaining what data is due out and how it will effect the markets.

They simply mades things very easy for me which was a big help because I’m already under alot of stress trying to move to Spain.

I would reccommend them to anyone. If anyone wants the name and number of my broker just let me know ?

Thanks.

Hi Gary

I tried that company your using Excel Currencies and I used another company called HiFX both had pretty good services and good broker that explained everything to me but I found Excel’s rates to be a good bit better everytime and I also found that Excel do transfers as small as ?100 for me compared to HiFX who would’nt do anything under ?2000.

I have a couple of larger transfers to do soon so hopefuly the good rates will contuinue.

Well the best of a bad situation with regards to geeting a good rate.

No but I would say be careful - Turkey is not an EU member country and I have heard there are problems with freehold legalities so you need to do a lot of research.

The following info will need verifying for its current validity:

How difficult is the property purchase process in Turkey?

Foreign ownership in Turkey is ruled by the reciprocity principle. Citizens of countries that allow Turkish citizens or legal entities to own property in their country are allowed to acquire property in Turkey. Citizens of most EU countries (except for Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic and Slovakia), the United States, Canada and other countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa can freely purchase properties in Turkey.

Foreign nationals also face restrictions on acquiring properties within municipal areas with less than 2000 registered inhabitants (article 87 of Village Act).Foreigners are also not allowed to purchase properties in the confines of military zones (Military Prohibited and Security Areas Act).

On 07 January 2006, a new law was enacted which put a limit to the amount of land that a foreigner can purchase. Foreigners are allowed to acquire a maximum of 30 hectares (74 acres) of real estate. Any piece of land exceeding 30 hectares requires a permit from the Turkish authorities.

Do the research!!

Hi Gary

My name is Liz and i am moving to spain soon.

I have to do a couple of small transfers first of all ...

What are the rates like you getting

and whats the smallest amount you ever sent with them…..

Thanks Dizzy Lizzy

Hello liz

sorry about the delay in replying to you.

The rates i get from Excel Currencies are always great. As soon as I get a rate I phone
the other Forign exchange people I have opened accounts with and they are always
better then the rest but sometimes not that big of a difference but most times there is.

I have done 3 transfers with them already and I have being very impressed with them.

They have explained everything to me start to finish and I did not feel pressured to do anything

Would have no problem recommending them to anyone…..

If you want the name of my broker just send me an e-mail or private message ....

Good luck .......

Hey Gary its Dizzy lizzy here.

Yep_____ There no need to tell me what they are like because I’m using them now and I must say they have made everything really easy for me.  My personal broker has explained everything to me in plain English and he is very efficient and of corse the rates are always very competitive.
