Hello All:

I’ve been living in the Madrid area for about three months now and I absolutely love it!  However, I’m having trouble finding some of the household items that I’m used to getting back in the US.  Can anyone offer some suggestions on where (if possible) I can find some of the things that I really miss from back home?  I’ve been to several Carrefours and AlCampos, but have yet to locate the following items:

non-dairy creamer (like Coffee-Mate)
macaroni and cheese (boxed, Craft?)
Swiffer Wet Jet (to clean kitchen floors)
decent vacuum cleaner (upright w/ rolling brushes)
store for good kitchen items (like Williams-Sonoma)
decent online shopping (Amazon’s not in Spain yet?!)

Thanks in advance for any assistance or direction you may be able to provide.

Kind Regards,
Greg

Hi! These are 2 webpages of stores that carry american food products. About the cleaning I have no idea. I do think both of the stores are located in Madrid. Good luck. I hope you find what your looking for.

Hi Greg and welcome to the beautiful city of Madrid!

El Corte Ingles have a very large variety of kitchen items, I spend hours browsing this section.
As for online shopping i often use ebay. For electronics i use http://www.optize.es, Hipercor and Carrefour have reasonable online food shopping. For books try http://www.casadellibro.com - although i prefer to go to the one on Gran Via and browse.

Hope this helps

Well i just read somewhere that walmart is plaining expansion to Spain???? This is not confirm but i read it i think in the financial times where the CEO of Walmart said is planing a Smart expansion in Europe and this includes Spain and Italy locations. This is because of the failure of Walmart in Germany. Well this will be fun i want to see Carrefour go head to head with a giant like Walmart. But like i said again i do miss the conveniance of America when it comes to shopping and getting the best at the best price in Spain is very limited comparing it to america, but like i said before i like Spanish food better than Amerca why is less process more natural and it taste better. Since Ive been in Marbella not even once i have gone to macdonalds or Burger King or any american Fast Food. I do not understand why young people in Spain go so crazy for that junk food that is the only thing i dislike form America.
