First of all, thank you for this very useful forum. I am learning a lot from reading everyone’s posts and replies.

My situation is this - I am a Canadian and my fiancee (getting married soon) is Spanish. We want to move to Spain (are planning on getting married before coming over there) and settle in Barcelona.

My understanding is that I can get an NIE number and start working as soon as I arrive and then can apply for citizenship after a year of residency (and a waiting period after that (?)). Has anyone on this board gone through a similar process? If so, do you have any suggestions for me?

I would also love to get a referral to a good immigration lawyer in Barcelona. Ideally one that is not too expensive…
