Hi Spain Expat Readers

Can somebody please give me the low down on how best to deal with our Spanish visa issue for my wife.  I am a UK citizen along with 2 children who are also UK Citizens.  My wife is from down under and only carries an Australian passport.

We are moving to Spain in 1 months time.  I am not a Spanish Resident yet so I cannot make a formal application at the Spanish embassy in Australia for her.

If we enter Spain via the UK what do you think the consequences would be if she overstayed her 90 day tourist visa?

How many times can she fly to a none EU country and return on a tourist visa before they figure out that she is living there?

We will probably be in Spain for 2 - 3 years,  should she just live as a tourist?

Many Thanks!!!!

Thanks for the reply.

So I should fly to Spain,  get a residence stamp, then fly back to Australia and submit my wifes application for a residence visa?

Any idea how long it takes to get a residence vias for a spouse?

What do you think the chances of her getting deported for overstaying a visa?  I have never seem a Spanish immigration officer all the times I have been there.  (obviously flew in from the UK)
