Hello everyone,
I'm hoping that someone can help me. I applied in May in Gandia for my NIE, when I got there and after queing for 5 hours, I handed over my filled in form, photos, passport etc. The guy asked me if I was only there for holidays or if I was planning to stay in Spain. My reply was that I wanted to stay in Spain, he said that I had filled out the wrong form and that I should get a green paper for residencia??? Anyway he scribbled something on my NIE form and said to come back in 10 days, that was impossible for me as I was only visiting and was flying back before the 10 days, I thought that they would send my number to the postal address or a letter to say that I could pick up my number (my parents have a house there) but no sign of any letter.
Now I have changed my plans and now want to move to Ibiza this summer, do I have to go back to Gandia to pick up my NIE or can I pick it up in Ibiza?????? If I have to go back to Gandia do I have to go and stand in the que again from 6 in the morning to be one of the lucky ones to actually get a number to be seen for that day or can I just go in and ask for the slip for the bank?

You can only collect the NIE from the office where you applied. You should not have to queue just to get the payment form (Modelo 790) but you will probably have to q to collect the NIE (unless they have implemented an appointments system - many have)
