New property and receiving mail

I have moved into a new building in La Cala de Mijas and am having difficulty receiving post. The building name is clearly signed above the door and I have a postbox next to the door with my name and Apt number. Having "tested" by way of sending myself a letter some 3 weeks ago and having had no mail from others I conclude that will never receive mail. How do I set my mail up. I collared the local postman but he directed me to the Correos in Fuengirola - having phoned and visited I was unable to speak to anyone in English
Please help

you could try the Correos web site, its in English.

It could be that the new build isn`t registered.

It may take a few months.

Or at worse the build is illegal and will never be registered, but thats worse case scenario and probably unlikely.

There is definitely a problem at the Cala de Mijas post office. I once sent my brother some cuff links as a bday present from that office, and they have never arrived. I'm sure they got stolen.

My parents live in rural Sevilla and the postman likes to save mail up for a week or two before taking it to the houses. They've learned to always go by the post office.

In our town the postman only delivers on Wednesdays.

How about getting a PO box in La Cala Post office?
