getting replacement cards for Sky boxes that have been detected as viewing abroad

We had been operating two Sky boxes with two different Sky subscriptions for the last two and a half years without a problem. All of a sudden they were cut off when "detected" as viewing abroad. Our account was supposedly handled through a company in San Pedro, who for the first time ever this year, passed a handling charge "unannounced" through the same Spanish credit card through which the subscriptions have always been charged. I smelled a rat and got in touch with them and they told me that they were expecting to have to change all cards this year because of Sky?s crackdown on viewing in Spain and that there would be administration charges involved. In the space of a few weeks we were cut off. When i got on to them about it they said that all they could do was to get us new cards for 350? per card. I think that this is extortionate. Has anybody had the same problem? Could these people be creating demand from their existing customer base by getting them cut off? Does anybody know how to get replacement cards (preferably Irish cards) for a reasonable ammount?

One of the boxes has basic Sky Sports package and the other has Sky Sports plus Setanta Sports. I?ve established an irish bank account this time to avoid detection.
Thanks for your help. Are you a local agent/installer?

HI, There are a couple of issues surrounding this problem
Sly have as said been rooting out cards that have been registered to a UK address with more than one contract,
The third party companies in the UK that have been supplying cards are now using accomodation addresses in the UK which they have to pay for ( I am told about ?80.00) per annum, and the initital card and set up is ?100
Contract charges would be the same as Sly monthly ( however any changes to contract also charged at ?22 per transaction)
The cheapest and easiest way around this problem, is to have your own UK address ( which must not have an existing Sky contract) and your own UK bank account
You will not be able to use any of the special offers, as that involves the use of a telephone line in the UK(12 months terms of contract) (without it your card wont be activatedm or on the first Tel check it will be disconnected).
Getting the cards now is both difficult and expensive, we usually advise to follow the route as explained above using your own UK(accomodation) address, which has the following advantages, you pay direct, no extra charges, you have control over both the contract and the debits. (Be sure when you phone SKY you disable number sending on your phone.
on the specific issue above with the two cards, Jurdyr, have you also considered that the Serial No's of the existing boxes will now be registered with SKY, which may cause your colleague some problems when they come to register new cards against them??!!
The issue surrounding this as always is money, contract rights between companies over who owns the right to broadcast what whenand get revenue from where??
