Can anyone tell me the best and cheapest way to send a lump sum from a Spanish Bank (The Cam) to a UK bank please, and an indication of what the charges would be on the Spanish side. I know the Nationwide for example do not charge to receive money.
Thank you.

Natwest charge ?18.00.

CAM similar I think so around ?30.00 all in.

Should only take you a few minutes to ring your bank or check there web page re charges though.

There isn`t a cheap way to do it, all the Banks charge similar rates and there higher if the transfer is a one off or not a lot of money.

If it`s a big amount, over ?100,000.00 speak to your financial advisor, they`ll forward you contact info for specialist companies that will optimise the exchange rate and give you a special friends rate.

If you need it quick western Union do it instantly, for a charge which is dependant on the amount, its not cheap, but quick.

Open an internet banking account with your Spanish bank and transfer the money for free directly to your UK account online. La Caixa automatically give you internet banking when you open an account with them.

It really does depend on the size of the transfer. If it’s over a few thousand I would suggest World First.
We recommend them to our clients as they have a ‘best rate guarantee’ and will pay ALL costs if the amount
is over 10k. They can save clients up to 5% - the banks give awful exchange rates. Link to World First
is on our site - see profile
