moving 2 cats from US to Spain via Dublin, ...BIZARRE problem!

Hello,
We are moving to Barcelona at the end of August, and have already bought our tickets through AerLingus (far cheaper deals out of Boston than anyone else). We are also bringing our 2 cats. The Aer Lingus website seemed to say that they do pet transport as well. I called them to get details on this, and it turns out they will only bring animals as far as Ireland. They won't take them any further, even though the flight from Dublin to BCN is with AerLingus as well. I don't really get it. But anyway, it seems like we'll have to pay a fortune to have them flown over separately.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on any other options. I'm guessing there's no way of flying them to Dublin, and then dealing with another airline/company to get them to Spain (I imagine we'd need a permanent address in Ireland, or a flight terminating there, or something...)

Any thoughts, as we'd rather not spend what will probably be thousands to fly these cats over.....?

Used Continental Airlines to bring my dog over. Cost $975 plus aduanas in spain and customs fee for a total of around $1100. Try to get a refund from Aerlingus. At the time Continental did not have the best rates either but I had to take my dog's welfare into account...

...Actually, that's not true, as long as they have all the vacc's, microchips, etc. AND had a rabies blood test 6 MONTHS ago. That was the deal-breaker for us (with AerLingus / Ireland), as we're moving in about a week. After a lot of dead-ends, I think we're able to do it through IberiaAir Cargo, which flies Boston to BCN, via Madrid. ...We haven't arrived yet though, so I can't guarantee what works yet. Stay Tuned.
