Hello…

I recently purchased an iPhone 3g in the US with a 2 year contract from AT&T;. Then I decided to move to Spain.

I may have to return the phone. But the hope is that I can terminate the contract and unlock the phone for use (including data use) in Spain. Does anyone know if this is possible or has anyone on this forum done that?

Thanks for any tips…

I just tried unlocking mine and it didn’t work. I haven’t tried since upgrading to 2.0.2 yet either though. Your best bet may be to return it though, if it’s within the last two weeks I think they’ll return your money, then you can buy it in Spain from Telefonica.

I haven’t used them, but a few customers told me that with those “Turbo” sim adapters it works great. Other people start to buy the lock free ones from Italy (These are completely carrier-free and you can put any sim, upgrade, run itunes, etc).

The phone will have to be re-locked each time you want to upgrade the software. I recently unlocked mine when it was on 2.02, but had to re-lock it again because the 2.1 update was so key.
