I have recently returned from a trip to Abu Dhabi and Dubai with around 2,000 dirhams, planning to change them into euros on my return.  What a mistake to make!  I have now been to four banks and nobody will change them!  Does anyone have any suggestions?  I find it absolutely extraordinary that the banking here can be so backward.

You should have changed your money BEFORE leaving the United Emirates. I doubt any bank, all over Europe and not only in Spain, will accept to change your dirhams ...

Thanks, but I have been to my own bank the Sol Bank and they won’t buy them - they suggested that I might have some luck in their main branch in Malaga, but they were not even certain of that.

Try a bigger bank - Santander maybe.  Otherwise, the specialist exchange companies will do it.  I can’t post a link here but you could google HIFX and get their details.
