Hi all,
me and my girlfriend have been living in Madrid for the past 4 months. My girlfriend is Costarican and is studying for one year at the Universidad Europea de Madrid. When we left Costa Rica she was adviced to get a student visa for 180 days en extend it here in Madrid for another 180 days. At this moment we're trying to extend the visa, but it seems to be impossible? we're being send from one place to another and some people have told us it is not possible to extend the visa at all... In that case the only (legal) option would be to fly back to Costa Rica and go through the whole process again, which is not really an option for us.
Does anyone have some advice / information for us on extending a student visa? If it is possible at all and ifso where we should go?

thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply!
Our biggest problem sofar is that noone seems to know where we should go. We went to the 'oficina de extranjeria', they told us to go to the office of International Affairs, then we were send to the police station, they said they couldn't do it, etcetera.
On the website you gave we can ask for legal advice, perhaps thats the best way to go. It surprises me that there doesn't seem to be an easier way to do this?

Spain is bureacratic. I think it is just a queston of finding out the what's and where's of things. But I am sure there is an easier way to do it. I hope you got my private message. Hoping to read your reply soon.
