Does anyone know of any groups that meet for walking in the Northern Costa Blanca?  I have found a mountain walking group but they seem a bit fit and serious for us….  ie I would like to walk rather than climb!  And ideally something family-oriented.  I have found some lovely routes etc from the tourist office but just wondered if there were any organised walks, perhaps not at this time of year but worth asking,

Thanks Jurdy, I found the local tourist board organise a series of regular guided walks - not too frequent this time of year but still one a month - really excellent service and free too, I am sure other areas do similarly,

Sure thing Jurdy,

This is the site linking to the description of each walk, and the link to the calendar pdf is at http://www.xabia.org/a_pie.html - all the leaflets are available in English at any of the 3 tourist offices themselves though I can’t find the English versions online.

I should also add that the walk I did at the weekend, graded ‘medium’, was pretty heavy going to my mind.  Not long, but more like a climb/scramble in places, where the path was actually a chain bolted to a cliff!  I was glad I didn’t have the kids along with me or anything, and also I found the path markings somewhat intermittent and was very glad our Guia knew where she was going.  Like everything else in Spain you are responsible for your own fitness and safety to a greater extent than you may be expecting, and get out exactly what you put in… the rewards being incredible, amazing views and experience..!

I’m sure I’ve mentioned them before to others on here, but the Gandia Social Club have organised weekly walks. There is one called Strollers which is really really easy. They also have Ramblers and Toughies. I realise Gandia is about an hour away from you but they really are a lovely bunch of people. Here’s their website:

We are pretty active day walkers, but I rather walk in a group of two (with my wife).
I cannot help with walking group information, but we have found a very useful web guide to the walking routes in Costa Blanca:

<a href="http://www.topwalks.net/en/index.htm">http://www.topwalks.net/en/index.htm</a>

The site covers altogether 200 routes, but some 60 of the routes are in Costa Blanca. The descriptions are very accurate. Highly recommended.
