I need advise on what to do. I just arrived Madrid with a business visa that will expire in two weeks. I want to stay back as I was born in Madrid but left Spain with my parents since 1985, I do have my birth certificate to prove that. Have been to the town hall but I am been told it will take a year plus to process. Can someone advise me on how to go about it so that I won’t remain illegal in Spain at the expiration of my visa. As I start processing my visa, I need to be working but my visa is not work permit visa. Is it possible to get the NIE in my situation? Thanks as I await your response.
