Hi -
This is my first post so please forgive me if I am not following the correct procedure. I am an American thats planning to move to Barcelona next month to live with my boyfriend (he’s Irish but has been living in spain for 10 years). The European division of my company has an office in Brussels and is willing to hire me while I live in Barcelona but the problem is I need to set myself up as ‘self-employed’ in Spain. Because my company is not a legal entity in Spain, this is the only way they can bring me on. I have done a bunch of research of becoming self-employed but all signs point to the fact that you need to be sponsored by a Spanish company. Is this accurate? Can anyone provide any guidance? Can I obtain a self employed working visa from the Spanish govt without the sponsorship of a Spain based company?
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
