Hi Everyone,

My husband & I are hoping to move over to Spain in early May. At present we have a RHD UK registered car taxed until end Jun 09. We are hunting for a Spanish plated LHD car to exchange for us to travel over in.
If however, we don’t find anything suitable, we will bring our trusty car with us and look around once there.
Our problem is the tax - reading info on the forum we note:-
One cannot re-tax a UK car in Swansea, when living abroad.
One must be taxed to be legal (we are quite happy about this)

However, if we are unable to find a suitable vehicle before the end of June, what on earth do we do? Can we obtain Spanish tax on our UK car as long as we re-register the car at the six month mark?

We do not wish to do anything illegal and are proposing to buy a Spanish car asap, but the best laid plans…..

Any advice gratefully received.
