I’ve bought an appartment in Barcelona and will be moving there next week. There is a telephone socket in the appartment but the line is currently not activated.

Do I have to rent the line from telefonica, or can I rent it from another company? (i.e. Jazztel, Orange etc.)

Also which company would you recommend for the broadband? I want a good, fast connection (like 20 Megs).

Jazztel highly recommended! look for Jazztel in forums.

not only its 20megabit, it also offers 2megabit up in its ADSL service to new customers. No other company does that with ADSL. Few of my friends changed already.
Definitely not Orange (was offline for 3 weeks - not acceptable, s#%tiest customer service ever), not Ono.
Telefonica is charging too much.

Its a difficult one to advise on ADSL there either to expensive pants customer service or something else…
I know of a lot people that are using Jazztel Vodafone Telefonica ONO so on so fourth….
each having there own opinions… Telefonica is expensive is unprofessional and so on..

There really is not enough competition in Spain… Telefonica still take over half the market in some areas.

The poster asks about an option in BCN. I live in Bcn, so Jazztel is the way to go.
