Hi every one please Help!!! I need my NIC number to apply for a police certificate , to show that i have not any criminal records for when i lived in Spain 30 years ago! I want to get married in Us and for that i have get police certificate from all the countries which i spend some time, more than six months. I lived in Madrid and studied between 1980 to 1985 and i can not remember any number but i know i used to get yearly authorisation from the police office. I have asked my embassy to apply for the police certificate and they need my NIC number/ residence number!! The embassy can?t help me to find the number, any suggestion?
i was hoping to get married in June latest in August, but by the look at it i wont be able to get fiance visa from US embassy without the Spainsh police certificate. I have given my notice at work but none of the plans has gone right and i am very stressed and frustrated, any suggestion is appreciated.

If you haven’t already, just don’t mention you lived in Spain <gasp>. How could anyone check?

Alternatively,  you should be able to apply for a duplicate NIE through the Spanish Consulate wherever you live. Or, if you do want to expedite things, there are companies which will do it for you. There are many, this one has a fee calculator: http://nienumber.com/fees_calculator/form/
(I have no idea about their services, this is not a recommendation- they just have a nifty fee calculator and offer to do what you seek).
