Team Expat,

Considering changing a chlorine pool into a salt water pool.

Good or Bad ?

I’ve read up on them and really like the sound of the salt pools.
Thing is, the house I’m interested in has a chlorine in-ground pool / average size.

Is it expensive to convert ? I have searched around online for Spanish bred companies but to no avail.
Your inputs, as always - are much appreciated.

Converting or installing a salt water pool is expensive but you will have no problem with adding chlorine because the salt makes chlorine. My son has an allergy to chlorine that’s why I considered converting our pool into a salt water chlorine.

However, the salt hurts his eyes so he has to wear googles during his swimming time.

Think you need to keep researching.
I know there are pool co’s in our area (EG Code in Los Boliches) that maintain both types of pool.
A property owner where I used to look after his rental clients set up the pool as a salt type, but conceeded that it was a
pain in the a** as it needed lots of attention.  In the end he changed to chlorine.

Any particular reasons for wanting salt over chlorine?

I am happy with my splash pool and it is easy to maintain (chlorine system)

Well, I have another house in a different Region nowadays, and had a Salt Water Pool installed.
Will update “with my findings” - Glad I went for the Salt Pool option though.

People with Chlorine Pools tend to favor those, and vice versa.
And People without any Pool tend to chomp on about preferring Chlorine pools.

Whatever. I went for a Salt Pool because I wanted to.
