We live half the year in the Canaries and the rest in mainland Europe (mostly Crete). At present we have a UK registered, fully UK taxed, RHD car which we ensure is never in Spain for more than 6 months and do not take at all to the Canaries. We have an excellent local insurance broker who has sorted Lloyds cover to suit our needs. It will soon need annual MOTs, so we need to get a new one ? LHD and Spanish-registered! We need info and advice as follows. We are registered Canarian residents, so buying a car over there should be relatively straightforward, but we would then bring it to the Peninsula and hope not to take it back there. Can ITVs be done anywhere in Spain? Is it OK that it would not go back there? Is there a way to buy on the mainland even though our address is Canarian? Is there any point in trying to sell the RHD UK-registered car in Spain e.g. for ex-pat returning, or should we take it back to UK to do so? Thanks
