Hi all:
I’m fairly new to the forum, so please bear with me. My husband and I are moving to Spain within the week and we are bringing our dog with us. The dog is approx. 14 kilos so we will have to fly him with baggage. I have searched and searched but can find no definitive answer in regards to what paperwork we will need for him to fly from the US to Madrid on Iberia. We have no stop-overs between Chicago and Madrid. I was able to get a hold of a representative from Iberia who said that he needed a Vetrinarian passport? Anyone know what the heck that is?? I will have the completed APHIS form with signature as well as the “certificado veterinario” with me. Also, we have had our dog for about 4 years, having adopted him from a shelter in California. He was implanted with a non-ISO microchip given his rabies shots etc. We have kept up with all of his rabies shots and so forth. About 3 weeks ago, I took him to our local vet and had him implanted with one of the ISO-standard chips as well as another rabies shot. I am concerned that this last rabies shot will have occured just short of the “21 day requirement” that I have read about on some sites. I know I have a lot of information here, but any help/reassurance from anyone else who has dealt with this before will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
