Can I get an extension before my 90 days are up??

I want to know if there is any kind of extension for the 90 day limit in Spain..I am a passport holder from the US.

no there is no extension.
you can leave the schengen area and enter again.

as far as i know they do not give any extensions.

As explained on the phone yesterday, you can extend your 90 visa (pr?rroga de estancia)
http://www.mir.es/SGACAVT/extranje/regimen_general/estancia.html. It is in Spanish, but you can even find there the form you need to use to apply for this extension at the police station
