Hi all;

Is it possible to use non chip and pin credit cards, issued by our Spanish bank, in anything over than cash machines in the UK?

In other words can they be used at any retail outlet…?

Hi FB

I am currently in UK with work…. Theres no Problem using Cashpoints… its just when you use Retailers like Tescos etc… is when you have issues as you know alot of money was spent in the UK putting Chip and Pin etc…..

However anywhere else within Euroland Money Europe NO PROBLEMOS!!!

I did try my cards in the US It was fine.

introduction of Chip and PIN 3 years ago was hailed by the the banks and was to be rolled out to rest off the world until some gang for way around the cards last summer 2008 the city off Galway Ireland was hit , my boss was cought out 2500 euros . that stole his PIN number via the terminal at the supermarket . While chip and pin technology has helped reduce crime at the tills , when it comes to telephone , internet , and mail order fraud   known in the industry as card-not-present or CNP fraud - the figures are growing . if your travel and you have a chip and pin card want tell you bank as look to beused via it chip frist and the magnetic stripes .

get looks when i give my old type off bank card at stores .... that look all over for the chip ...... lol

I am led to believe that Spain did have Chip and Pin Once upon a time… when england took it on Spain and some parts of Europe stopped using it…. “QUOTE ME IF I AM WRONG!!!!!”

So yes FB Some Retailers will not take the card as the card does not have a chip on it…
