Hello All,

Back in Canada I use to perform credit and criminal checks annually on all of my employees. I?m now in Spain and I want to do the same thing.

I hear it is illegal here in Spain, can anyone confirm this? If it is possible can you forward me an agency near Barcelona that performs this service. In Canada I used backcheck.net. Per person the cost was around $60CAD for both criminal and credit. The company is similar to a bank so there were no issues in Canada.

The dilemma is basically I don?t want to hire anyone with a shady history.

I did a lil’ Googling & found this, seems to be a Company that can do Employment checks in Spain for $100, Civil & Criminal Record checks etc.. However, it appears that it can only apply to people that are Registered in Spain.

IE: Residents (I guess if it doesn’t throw up a report they’re not registered…)

Hope it’s of some use..

Hi DSB, yeah I saw this also when I was googling around. It looks to be international and not only specific in Spain so I don?t know if they are legal under LOPD in Spain.

Ahh…My bad.
Me thinks you may be better off speaking to a Spanish Lawyer about the avenues to take.
I’m sure they can point you in the right direction.
