Greetings to all!

ABOUT ME:
I am an extracommunitario, a graduate of a US university, on a student visa
in Spain, working towards my master’s in Administraci?n and Direcci?n
Financiera which ends in June ?10.

MY BIZ ISSUE:

Before coming here about a month ago I’d taught English “como aut?nomo” in
Moscow ? mostly to multinationals ? for about 5 years, making a pretty
comfortable living by Spanish standards, which, presumably, should have
bought me a bit of a head-start down here 😉

As I had lived and studied here before in 2000/01, and had gained some
knowledge of the terrain, my original plan was basically to set up a small
teaching/consulting business for ?particulares and empresas?, similar to
what I had been doing in Moscow.

My two other, possibly key, resources in this undertaking are these:

- On my team I have a well-trained and accomplished journalist/ editor, who
is a Brit, but who currently lives in Portugal and works from there

- In Malaga I have a friend, who is a legal resident, but not a citizen of
Spain, who already has an SL in the ?hosteleria business? which was set
up back in 2002, had been successful up until 2007 but remained inactive for
the past two years.

So, part of my game plan was to pay the lawyers to set up ?una Sociedad
con Responsabilidad Limitada?. Now it turns out I have some time on my
hands, so I decided to try do some ?tramites? via Barcelona Activa or its
affiliated organizations.

So, having strategized a little I am now looking at the following pool of
scenarios and would love to know your opinion on them:

1. Working on my Permiso de Residencia por Estudios y Investigaci?n with
some local schools while persuing my SRL plan

2. teaching as a grad student on my permiso residencia with that Malagan
company that is willing to sponsor me

3. Working for the Malaga SRL nominally (on the books) for free,
representing my income as a form of a company stipend / beca de empresa that
would include rent, meals and basic necessities

4. Buying the Malaga company (or shares in it) as there’s a requirement in
the immigration law that a company recruiting a foreign national has to have
existed for at least a year

5. Becoming a socio in that company (just for safety/insurance purposes to
avoid possible squabbles over pay) and working as an intern while waiting
for my permiso de trabajo/ autonomo permit AND building up my client base
for my future SRL

6. taking advantage of my right to work within the legal framework of my
permiso de residencia

7. setting up my own SRL unipersonal, or with a partner, and hiring a
gestor to do admin as I am currently not allowed to work legally

8. setting up my own SRL unipersonal (or with a partner), hiring a gestor
to do admin (as I am currently not allowed to work legally) AND billing
companies as though I were selling translations and editing work VIA
INTERNET FROM ABROAD

9. Setting up my own SRL unipersonal, or with a partner, hiring an
accountant to do admin as I am currently not allowed to work legally AND
billing companies as though I were selling translations and editing work
from abroad AND asking students to make payments to my foreign (US/ UK)
accounts

10. Not registering a company here, and just asking students to wire
payments to my US/UK company’s accounts abroad (?import/export of
services? option) AND, if need be, registering a representative office in
Barcelona, which I will have to sort out with the Barcelona Activa office or
other related institutions.

Of all the above scenarios I have to single out the best ones for my
situation, taking into account my strong desire to settle in this country
permanently.

It would be very generous of you to offer me some advice or even just very
tentative leads on the subject.
