Hi

I have been trying quite hard to find information about this on these forums and the internet but don’t seem to be able to track anything down. I have read all the articles and forums and none of them seem to mention if it is possible to come to spain as a non EU citizen with the specific intention of working autonomo.

I am a New Zealand citizen who is looking at relocating to Spain permanently. What is the process for a non EU citizen becoming autonomo, i am looking at both teaching English and doing some freelance writing via an agency based in the UK, i am not, however, able to get a freelancers visa. I am a UK resident so would not have to go back to NZ to apply for any visas, and am able to make regular quick trips to spain if need be.

Do i still need to have an employer saying that they will give me a contract to get into spain, and would this be easier to obtain as an autonomo? What type of long term visas would i need to apply for to get entry and residence into spain? Is it even possible for a non EU citizen to enter Spain and become autonomo immediately. If there are any government or consulate sites that i could be directed to it would be a great help.

Basically any info relating to becoming autonomo for a non EU citizen would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot

Hi, when I set up my business I did it with the “camara de comercia”, basically they set up small businesses and give advice, courses, etc.

They should be ale to help you, you might be lucky and get somebody that speaks English but it is unlikely.
