Hello all

We have a property in El Galan and are now keen on having a car.  We have found a website in the UK that sells LHD (some with Spanish plates). The idea is to buy one here and drive over then leaving it there but we don’t know whether this is ok to do and what paperwork we need to complete etc.

The other alternative is buying one there but again we don’t know the process!! Can anybody help out?

I would not recommend buying a Spanish car in the UK, that could lead to a lot of problems if it has been stolen or has fines or debts against it.

Buy one here - if you are worried about dealing with the Spanish there are British dealers here (Spain) selling cars just see the local papers. RTN, Coastrider etc…....Look out for a bargain, some are selling to return to the UK.

You will need your NIE and money!

I’ve got to agree with Rob about buying here in Spain being much wiser that bringing a car over, certainly not one with UK plates.  There are so many people stuck with UK registered vehicles and not wanting the hassle and expense of re-registering them.  If you buy in Spain the dealer should take care of all the paperwork and as Rob says there are a lot of English dealers with a lot of stock.  I have bought two cars here - a new Toyota and a second-hand Chrysler both from official concessions.  The Chrysler purchase was a nightmare in almost every sense - among other things it was wrongly registered, so I would advise double-checking everything using info available online even when buying from a supposedly reputable dealer.

hi, just wondering if anyone can help me out, what it is, im starting my own company up over here in spain, but im just having trouble with the last part of things, i need car or van, everything else is in place, im struggerling to buy a spainish car or van, but i have seen one with uk plates, just wondering how it would work if i brought the one on uk plates, becuse it would have my ladders on the roof and stuff, would it be a good idea, or not, i have heard stuff where you can only have it in the country for 6 months, please can anyone help
