I’ve been using VOIP for some time now, earlier with Vonage, now with Skype. Voip has worked well for me. And skype charges me ? 0.017 to call home(US Texas) from Switzerland. That’s pretty cheap. I’ve heard about thier latest package of making unlimited calls to US for just $29.95 annually. Maybe I should switch to it. So VOIP isn’t a hype at all. It good quality call at very cheap rates.
You’re right, VOIP isn’t just hype, but I’m surprised that having had Vonage that you switched to Skype. I went the other way around (Skype first, then Vonage) and haven’t looked back. You just can’t get the same call quality on Skype and it’s easy to see why when you look closely. Vonage uses about 3 times more bandwidth (although you can adjust this) which, if you have a decent ADSL or cable Internet connection, is nothing. A friend of mine calls me from Thailand on Skype all the time and I have to call him back from my Vonage on his cell phone - the call quality just frustrates me.
Yeh even I believe that voip is not a hype as far as skype is considered..when skype was launched there was so much of hype considering its cheap rate?and actually u believe that when u use skype! I make calls to guinea at just $0.181..u will really find it worth it, when u actually look at what u pay and what u get!!...so voip is not a hype as far as skype is considered!!!!
