Hi, we are hoping to move to spain november this year.  I am hoping that i might be pregnant again by then and am not planning to work, hoping my husband will be able to support me!!  I’m looking for info about how it works with healthcare, presumably i won’t be able to get a social security number as I won’t be working so does that mean that I’ll have to pay for the medical care I’ll need?  Does anyone know I’m struggling to find out.

thx

Hi there, I’m hoping to move to Spain in the next few months and I’m pregnant and will hopefully be in Spain before I give birth, what I’ve been led to belive is that if your husband pays social security then you and your children will also be entitled to healthcare, though I’m not 100% on this, maybe someone else will reply to your post with a definate answer, I’d be interest to find out myself x Terri

That sounds right tezza, if your husband is paying into social security, gets the empadronamiento and takes all of you to the local clinic then you should all get health care cards and an assigned doctor.

I was hoping to get some advice as well.  I just found out I am pregnant, and I am moving to Spain in the next month and a half and hope to have my baby there.  I will be paying into Social Security, but I am not sure if they will cover the current pregnancy.  Can anyone help?
