Lily Hi,

Fistly welcome to the forum...

In answer to your question re-employment over here, I dont think your SIA qualification will have any validity. It appears to be a uniquely British qualification for use in solely in Britain.

Work over here is incredibly difficult to come by these days particularly if you dont speak Spanish.

The Spanish economy is in a mess; the number of people unemployed here rose from 3,100,000 to 3,800,000 in the space of just one year a rise of nearly 20%.
Lots of Brit families who were self employed here have been forced to call it a day and go back to the UK.

The only suggestion I could possibly make is to use your hairdressing qualifications and if you drive, set up a home hairdressing business. There may be a market for such in the expat world in Murcia.

Bar work I would think would be almost impossible to find out of season and even during the season might be difficult to find given the high number of Brit bars which have been forced to close because of the economic situation. Competition for all kinds of jobs is going to be very hard to deal with if you cant speak Spanish.

Sorry to be a wet blanket, but you really need to do loads of research before coming over. Whilst conditions in the UK are pretty gloomy its case of better the devil you know than the devil you dont. And there are plenty of rip-off merchants over here, both Spanish and Brit who would be only to happy to take an innocent newbie to the cleaners...
