Hola! We are moving to Spain and would like to find a 1 month rental until we are sure what area we want to be in. We know we must find a place that accepts dogs (we have 3) and has internet. We would like to be able to walk to the beach and walk or ride bikes to a food market and bus or train. It will be my husband, 8 yr. old, 3 dogs & I. Any and all advice is welcome! Thanks in advance,
Heather

We lived in Spain with 2 dogs i found it very difficult,no parks to run them, cant take them on beaches, many places put poison down. And the worst thing is one of them had Lachmanosis( sand Fly ).Sorry to be negative, but that is my experience.

Ew! Thanks. We are renting for 1 month to begin with to make sure we find the best area for us. Are you in Valencia region? We hope to find something there in Costa Blanca. I guess if it doesn't work we'll try France or Italy. I'll read up on sand fly.
Sorry for the duplicate post- the first didn't show up til after I posted this- then I couldn't delete it.
Kind Regards,
Heather

Heather,
Being from a non-EU country, how are you going to swing the legality bit of being here for possibly more than 3 months? If your wee one is going to be going to school, that could get sketchy...
Good luck!

Our consulate advised that we stay 'under the radar' but we are applying for visas (not work) and will hopefully be granted a longer stay. Otherwise I guess we could go to Morocco for a bit. We currently homeschool and plan to continue when we are there. As I understand Spanish law this is not legal but not illegal. School is compulsory but parents have the right to choose schooling that best meets the needs of their child. Catalan' made it completely legal in 2009- we may just live there to reduce likelihood of problems. If we can't make it work in Spain we'll go to France or Italy.
Caio,
Heather
