Add the UK problems and the language issue along with being another outside lookin for work in a country with double the UK unemployment levels, no benefits system etc.
My advice stay put, make a good of it in the UK and when you have enough money either buy a holiday home in Spain or retire too Spain.
Living and workin in Spain is far far far harder than the UK, not impossible, but if the UK is getting you down, Spain will make it worse, thats why so many are returning.
Apart from the sun Spain holds little life improvement for british families seeking work, the UK may appear to be a s888 hole, thanks to the media, but its a far better lifestyle in the UK.
I'm sure you believe your different etc, if I had a euro for everybody who stated that, moved to Spain and returned to the UK I wouldn't need to play lottery every week.

Hi Haze,
I believe that despite the economic situation here in Spain, there are still many opportunities here for self-starter, go-getter sorts, especially those who decide to start their own business. If, however, you wish to get a job here then that may prove a lillt more tricky and you'll find you have to turn your hand to potentially unwanted jobs such as cleaning, waitressing, etc....So it all depends on your ideas and your personality really. The fcat that you and your husband both have skills you could quite easily start your own businesses and network with other expats in order to find clients. The plumbing here in Spain is awful so there's always a need for good ones from the UK. I called out one just a week ago as my boiler started leaking! He told me he was very busy.
I own a magazine network here on the costa del sol so I also know that beauticians get a lot of work too - especially with waxing, manicures, pedicures, fake tans, etc .... bodies are exposed far more than in the UK!!!
I'm afraid I'm not so up on schools as I dont have kids, but my sister has two under five. They start school at 3 years old here... Hope all that helps.
