Hello,

We are an Irish/German couple currently living in Ireland.  We plan to buy property - maybe just a battered finca with some potential - in Navarra/Aragon/La Rioja, fix it up, and then live there full-time.  We are full of ideas for growing organic stuff, giving yoga & cooking courses, teaching languages, offering accommodation etc.

It would be great to hear from/share experiences with anyone who has already made the move to Spain and has done some or all of what we plan to do.  We will be in the above areas in July this year viewing properties, so could hook up with anybody who is willing to give us the benefit of their experience in return for copious beer/wine…....

Thanks is advance,

Peecee2

It’s the weather and the countryside we’re after, but the cheaper prices in Spain will help a lot too.  We’re living in Wicklow at the moment.

if you want cheap property and outgoings, consider inland a little, we live an hour from the coast, and wine/beer, is still 1euro a go, i have 3 hectares and 2 properties and my rates for the year are 4.25 euro, yes 4 euro 25 cents! property cheaper as well, with plenty of sunshine! 30 here today, no humidity. best of luck !!

Hi Popeye,

Found you on the map.  I see what you mean about living away from the coast.  We had a look at a few properties around Valencia a couple of years ago.  They turned out to be very expensive and water supply seemed to be a constant issue.  The weather was teriffic though - despite the costal tourist madness.  What sort of elevation is your site at?

Adios,

Peecee

we are in the mountains at 1000 mts so we get up to 50 in summer and down to -6 in the winter but those are the extremes, for example i normally cook turkey paella up a local mountain xmas day, and a few of us have been sunburned!! We still get seasons here, at the moment lots of wild flowers and green everywhere.
