Hello Everyone!
My name is Linda (USA) and my husband is Paul (British).  We are buying a home around the Alcala La Real area.  We will be driving a car from the UK but need to fly out when we leave.  Can anyone tell us how to get from Alcala La Real to the airport in Malaga, one way?  I can’t seem to find rental cars for one way, train or bus so I am lost.
We are looking forward to living there but at first it will only be temporary as we live and work in Saudi Arabia until retirement.
Thank you all for you help!

uk reg cars , real law on them please befor you come here ,
Get busses to Granada and you sould get more buses from there .

One of the best ways to travel in Andalucia by public transport is by modern bus or coach.

There is a frequent service between the main towns in Andalucia and also day and overnight services to and from Madrid. Buses will be the only form of public transport into the surrounding villages. The bus and coach services are operated by different private bus companies. Most operate from the main bus terminals in the towns. Some however do use their own bus station.

Hi;

Just to expand on Jurdys post….

Alsa operate 9 buses a day between Alcala La Real and Granada and there is an hourly service from Granada to Malaga also operated by Alsa.

Malaga bus station backs onto the railway station ‘Maria Zambrano’ and from there there is a half hourly suburban (known as RENFE Cercanias) service to Malaga Airport.

http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/malaga/index.html

A typical journey would be as follows; these times taken from relevant timetables highlighted above…

Alsina Graells (Alsa)

Alcala   dep 0730
Granada arr   0840 Fare for this leg 4.19 Euros
Granada dep 0900
Malaga   arr   1030 Fare for this leg 9.77 Euros

Renfe

Malaga(Cercanias) dep 1103
Aeropuerto         arr 1116 fare for this leg 1.35 Euros

We routinely use the bus/train scenario from our location to Malaga Airport, and find it just as quick and convenient as using the car.

Hope this helps a little…
