Hi all,
I’m wondering if anyone has successfully applied for the self-employment visa and residency permit?
Here’s my situation:
I am American, studied for 2 years in Granada, while there I met my husband and got pregnant. We were married this past February in Granada. He is from Guinea-Bissau and has permanent residency in Spain (has been there 10 years now). Our son is now 1.5 yrs old. My husband can’t apply for family reunification because he’s currently unemployed and cobrando paro. With no job prospects in sight, we are getting REALLY sick of the 90 days on, 90 days off thing and so I am applying for the self-employment visa.
I am a translator/interpreter (have my master’s degree and have been working in the field for a while). Don’t make nearly enough to get the non-lucrative visa, but definitely make enough to support myself, and have enough savings to pay the social security taxes for at least a year. Also, a few Spanish companies have expressed interest in hiring me as an autonoma (and have written letters to that effect which I’m including with my application).
I guess I’m just really disillusioned at this point in getting together my application and paperwork and am wondering if they ever actually give this visa to anyone ... what are my chances? Any recommendations for the application process?
And any other ideas on how I can live legally over there???? (We are not interested in coming to the States, and I can’t be a full-time student b/c I have no time LOL).
Thanks in advance.
