I have been accepted by a family to take care of their children in Barcelona. I am really looking forward to this but I need to be there on September 1. I am filling out everything, but I do not have a Spanish Consulate in my city so I have to mail it out to Toronto, Ontario.

I am wondering, should I not get my Visa in time, and it comes when I am in Spain, can I still stay, or will I need to leave the country and come back? How long done a Visa usually take?

The family is writing a letter stating they need me by September first, and my contract with them, will that help?

I have tried speaking to the consolate and I have found them very unhelpful.

I am also a Canadian.
