“Central” means for the entire building. All medical supplies are distributed through the “central supply” department, and that includes everything from sterile items through toothbrushes.
I don’t understand why your friend told you that’s “where the money is”. Sterile supply clerks don’t do that well, really. I don’t know where you live, but a sterile supply tech starts at about $22,500/yr and tops out at $35,800. Where I live, that would barely cover rent and food.
Stay in school and train for something that has a bit more potential.
