Actually - the federal government (of Canada) is investigating changing the tax laws to require Canadian citizens to pay income tax ... at the Canadian rate, to the Canadian government ... on worldwide income (regardless of residency). At the moment, if you are deemed a resident of Canada (meaning you haven’t been abroad long enough to be a resident elsewhere, or your familial and economic ties are stronger to Canada than elsewhere), you must pay Canadian taxes regardless of where you are employed. If the individual IS a resident of some other country, taxes are paoid at the going rate to the country in which the individual resides.
Canada recognizes the concept of Jus Soli (right of birth). This means when someone is born in Canada, they have the right to choose Canadian citizenship - regardless of the nationality of the parents. The y also recognize the concept of Jus Sanguinis (right of descent), which means the child could have the nationality of either of the parents. However, the choice must be made at birth ... either Canada, or one of the parents’ nationalities.
